The Bhagavad Gita presents the knowledge of five fundamental truths and their interconnectedness. These truths encompass Krishna (God), the individual soul, the material world, action within this world, and time. Through lucid explanations, the Gita delves into the essence of consciousness, the self, and the universe, offering profound insights into India's spiritual wisdom.

Originating as part of the 5th Veda and the Indian epic Mahabharata, the Bhagavad Gita was first narrated during the battle of Kurukshetra by Lord Krishna to Arjuna. This 700-verse Dharmic scripture forms a dialogue between Arjuna, a prince of the Pandavas, and his mentor Krishna on a range of philosophical topics.

Amidst a tumultuous war, Arjuna, filled with despair, seeks guidance from his charioteer Krishna on the battlefield. Across the Bhagavad Gita's teachings, Krishna imparts wisdom to Arjuna, outlining paths to devotion and expounding on selfless action. While upholding the essence and philosophical heritage of the Upanishads, this scripture uniquely amalgamates elements of dualism and theism.

Over time, numerous commentaries have been penned on the Bhagavad Gita, each offering distinct interpretations. Dating back to Adi Sankara's eighth-century commentary, these analyses often view the Gita's battlefield setting as an allegory for humanity's ethical and moral dilemmas. Notable figures such as Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi drew inspiration from its call for altruistic deeds, dubbing it his "spiritual dictionary."
